Josh Perez founded Outrun Media Group (OMG) to manage creators and create communities around those creators. Despite finding an entertainment lawyer to help, not being in a major market made it difficult – and creator contracts are simply different that traditional contracts. Perez found some contracts online – through some Reddit threads and gave them to his attorney but still didn’t like the outcome.
“My attorney works in intellectual property. That’s why I sought him out. But he didn’t understand the business or how it worked.” Perez said. I paid him $2000 to revise contract templates I found on Reddit, but it still wasn’t right.
